UPDATE: 25/10

i decided to change the format of posts as weekly update can get very exhaustive and repetitive and i decided that evey few weeks i will post general progress and thoughts in a more digestible fashion

weeks 4/5 have seen a lot of storyboarding and concept art with the first version of the storyboards being finished via my sketchbook. the narrative and characters are concrete now and i've made some concept art to help develop aspects of the art direction.

i also did seminars and crits, notable chris doing a seminar on failure which outlines the different variables of failure and how it and success aren't black/white which is practially my view as i feel my projects can be successfull in some areas but fail in othersas use that to learn and improve. the crit with jonathan baxter was more a self-reflective session.

the Guest @ Gray's program started within this time with the first two lecturers being Morag Myerscough and Ica Headlam. Great talks that have helped me think about how you can as well as working in the creative industries doesn't start/end with being an artist.

last week was the pause and reflect week where there's no timetabled classes staff aren't present on campus. i stood back a bit from art that week to help refresh myself and did some research but rested a bit cause i needed it. halfway thru my first semester, i feel overwhelmed with the researching, drawing and writing but i actually feel satisfied with it since it is within my areas of interest.

for fun stuff, i've been rewatching Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror episodes for the halloween season. Treehouse of Horrors I-XI are all top notch with the creativity and satire. These episodes feel like the animators flexing their muscles as the visuals in these episodes go beyond the typical episodes.

for the two tracks, first is this cut 'About You' from the 1975's latest album Being Funny in a Foreign Language. It's a beautiful chamber pop/shoegaze hybrid with arrangements from Nick Cave's partner-in-crime Warren Ellis but the guest vocals from Carly Holt are the MVP of this track. Second is a fast balls-to-the-walls cut from Static Dress. This track 'Unexplaiabletitlesleavingyouwonderingwhy (Welcome In)' is from their debut Rouge Carpet Disaster (My AOTY pick). This track feels straight out of the THPS2 soundtrack. I now feel sad that Activision has pulled the plug on the franchise.
