log_sem2_update

hey there! back with another update

2D work has been going steady. As of writing I had made approx 10 minutes laid out of rough animation. The final scene is still bare but it will be. One exciting thing I want to point was with adding blood to the intro sequence and doing a straight-ahead approach as opposed to the usual pose-to-pose (keyframe) approach and it adds a lot to this segment, especially after seeing this in b/w for so long.

The 3D scenes has progressed quite a bit with 5 minutes approximate, All the scenes are laid out with camera work done. The animation is mostly been simple with characters moving in static poses for the most part as at this stage you focus on staging and layouts. Some scenes are more simple with modifiers and simple character animation whereas others still need more work to be done.

i've also started making backgrounds for the film using traditional mediums like watercolour and acrylic.some are straightforward locations necessary to show the world as well as establishing shots whereas some are more abstarct and driven by texture and palette. i made the choice to make the backgrounds traditionally so that the real world and the virtual world that purgle lies in are visually distinct from each other, but also using tradional methods allows for gnarly and rough results that you cannot get digitally.

in other areas, i've been doing illustration crits with ComDes people across all years alongside regular crits and talking to people within thealongside showing my work. it has made me much more confident in talking and presenting my work to people but conversating and being on very similar pages with people is just electric. i went on a study trip to edinburgh with my fellow MA peers which i wrote a post about.

overall, see you guys next post!
